Day 1
Arrive at Patimura Airport.
Pick up the car at the airport and go straight to the ferry port in Liang village (Hunimua), then cross the strait to the port of Waipirit village on Seram Island.
Continue the journey to the capital of the western part of Seram Regency, Piru City (SBB), to spend the night at Amboina Hotel. After checking in and leaving your luggage, head to the restaurant for dinner. Then, if there's still time, go birding along the road from Piru City across the road to the council office and towards Hua Nausea.
Birds you might see here include:
- Collared kingfisher (Todiramphus chloris)
- Lazuly kingfisher (Todiramphus lazuly)
- Oriental hobby (Falco severus)
- Red-flanked lorikeet (Charmosyna placentis)
- Sacred kingfisher (Todiramphus sanctus)
- Australian hobby (Falco longipennis)
- Rufous-necked sparrowhawk (Accipiter erythrauchen)
And other types that have not yet been identified.
Return to the hotel at 6 pm to rest for tomorrow's birding adventure.
Day 2
At 5 am, depart from Piru City (Amboina Hotel) to Masika Jaya Village. From there, take a longboat to Buano Island. The journey from Piru City to Masika Jaya takes more than 1 hour, and from Masika to Buano takes more than 2 hours.
Upon arrival in Buano, report to the village head and pay the necessary birding activity donation, as required in all villages where you intend to birdwatch.
Spend the day birding in Buano until 4 o'clock. Then, return to Masika and continue to Piru Town to spend the night at Amboina Hotel. Rest until morning.
Some of the birds you can expect to see on Buano include:
- Boano monarch (Symposiachrus boanensis)
- Moluccan monarch (Symposiachrus bimaculatus)
- Beach kingfisher (Todiramphus saurophagus)
- White-bellied fish eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster)
- Secret kingfisher
Day 3
At 5 am after breakfast, travel from Piru Town (Amboina Hotel) to Mornateng village, doing some birding along the way.
Spend a few hours in Mornateng village to see one of Seram Island's endemic birds, whose population has unfortunately been greatly reduced:
- Salmon-crested cockatoo (Cacatua moluccensis)
- Red lory (Eos bornea)
- Red-flanked lorikeet (Charmosyna placentis)
After enjoying this birding opportunity, continue your journey to Labuan Island 7. Stay at a homestay on the island, crossing over by longboat if necessary. Rest until tomorrow morning.
For participants who prefer to stay in an open area, please bring a dome tent and a mattress.
Day 4
After breakfast at 5 am, leave the island where you stayed and head to another island to see the bluebirds. Return to the original island for lunch.
In the afternoon, do some more birding around this island until 3 pm. Then, depart from 7 Islands and head back to Seram Island, the journey taking more than 1 hour.
Continue your journey to the heart of birding paradise on Seram Island - Masihulan village. Stay in a floating accommodation on seawater at Sawai.
Day 5
5 am is the normal time to go out on a birding trip to community land or Manusela National Park. Masihulan boasts an impressive 129 animal species, with 17 being endemic and rarely found elsewhere on Seram Island.

- Salmon-crested cockatoo (Cacatua moluccensis)
- Purple-napped lory (Lorius domicella)
- Southern cassowary (Casuarius casuarius)
- Seram priarbird
- Seram mountain pigeon (Ducula badia)
- Red lory (Eos bornea)
- Blue-eared lory (Eos semilarvata)
- Seram oriole (Oriolus forsteni)
- Seram white-eye (Zosterops stalkeri)
- Binaia heleia
- Cinnamon-chested flycatcher (Ficedula buruensis)
- Seram honeyeater (Lichmera monticola)
- Long-crested myna (Basilornis corythaix)
- Streak-breasted fantail (Rhipidura dedemi)
- Seram plower fecker
- Lazuly kingfisher (Todiramphus lazuly)
- Seram thrush (Geokichla joiceyi)
Today, we did some birding on community land along the road from our accommodation to the villager's area of Masihulan village. We returned to the inn for lunch at 12 o'clock, and then headed out again for further birding from room 3 until 6 o'clock in the afternoon.
Day 6
At 5 o'clock after finishing breakfast, we embarked on a birding trip to community land and Manusela National Park. We were able to reach a certain point by car, and then continued on foot with the car following behind.
Our target today was also the diverse birdlife of the Masihulan area, with its 129 species and 17 endemic ones. We returned to the accommodation at 12 o'clock for lunch and rested until 3 o'clock. In the afternoon, we returned to the birding location for further exploration until 6 o'clock and then rested.
Day 7
Day 7 offered a slightly different schedule and route, with the animal targets tailored to the guests' preferences. We set off at 5 am, returned for lunch at 12 o'clock, and rested until 3 o'clock. After that, we continued birding until 6 o'clock in the afternoon before returning to the accommodation for the night.
Day 8
At 7 am, we departed from the floating accommodation (Oa Nain) towards Masohi town. Along the way, we made brief stops for birding opportunities.
Upon arrival in Masohi City, we spent the night and embarked on a night trip around the villages of Masohi City, Makariki, Waipia, and Liang, seeking out the elusive Seram masked owl (Tyto almae). We left the hotel for this excursion at around 7 pm and returned at 11 pm, ready for rest.
Day 9
At 6 am, we had breakfast before leaving Seram for Ambon Island at 9 am. This marked the end of our exciting birding adventure on Seram Island. We returned to Ambon City, where you can rest for a night before preparing for your flight back home.
